This text truly helped me feel less nervous about the writings to come. I as Anne Lamott said “often feel like we are pulling teeth”, when trying to write an academic text or essay.  I always freeze and get nervous about what comes next or if i'm rambling on about a topic, that's not nearly what the original thesis sentence had intended. Also I feel like a lot of statements made in the text could be applied to everyday life. Lamott says “People tend to look at successful writers who are getting their books published and maybe even doing well financially and think that they sit down at their desks every morning feeling like a million dollars….” This is very true in today's society because many believe just because a person is rich or pretty, that they have the perfect life and no hardships they have to go through, which is not true.

Lamott also says “But there was no way of getting there without going through the first five and a half pages”, this can also be applied to life's battles and endurances. If you were never to go through any hardships in your life, you wouldn’t nearly be as strong and tough as you are today. Like in writing, you have to go through shitty times to get to the excellent ending.
