I think “The Habitat” is a very captivating piece. Even more so was the authors' descriptions and detailed accounts of her personal experience. She used an extreme mix of past and present verbs which made us tell she has lived it and remembers the fascinating events, but she is telling it after the fact. This shows that why yes she lived it, she is writing about it after the fact, not like when she was present. She also tends to mix the detailed accounts and her opinions on those accounts a lot. She throws in the comments here and there in her podcast which helped us as the reader, completely understand how she was feeling about the current environment and situation she was in. It helps the reader to feel immersed in the situation, almost as if they were there themselves. She also tells side stories, such as the one about the footprints, which are completely unrelated to the topic of exploring Mars, but is relevant to the idea that they are headed for a place unknown. She gives almost scary extreme details, down to the feeling of the car when they are driving down the dirt road and the feelings she had as a child of wanting to find a new place to pee. “The Habitat” is an extraordinary podcast that keeps you laughing and marveling with every minute.
